إنتهى معرض CES الضخم، وتسنى لمراسلينا الذين غطوا الحدث الاستراحة والتفكير وغسل تعب فيغاس (والسهر) عن محياهم. حان الآن الوقت ليخبرونا ماذا وجدوا هناك وما هي الأجهزة والتقنيات التي نتطلع لها لسنة 2014.

As usual, this year’s CES – organised by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) – has been full of great tech, from interesting new ideas to fully fledged products ready to find their way into your home. T3 Middle East has been on hand to get hands-on with most of it, and here are ten highlights from the show that will be making a splash in 2014.

One of Kickstarter’s first triumphs, Pebble made a big splash in 2013, helping to usher in a new wave of wearable technology that is incredibly evident at CES 2014. If there was one criticism of the original Pebble Watch it was the plastic construction, which took away from that premium watch feel we all crave. Well, say goodbye to that – Pebble is back in stainless steel, and will come with more apps and functionality than ever before.
Audi’s 10.2-inch Android tablet has the power to change how we think about driving. Up until now, in-car systems have refused to embrace the power of mobile OS’ like Android and iOS… but no longer. Google Earth as your in-car navigation system? Yep. Spotify for your audio? Sure. With a Tegra 40 chip under the bonnet too, Audi’s tablet embraces the power of Android and then some.Price: TBC | Release: TBC

If you’re wondering what business a printer company has with eyewear, don’t forget that Epson makes a huge range of projectors too. The Moverio glasses are in essence, two small LCD projectors, alongside Android 4.0 support, Bluetooth, head motion tracking and a front-facing camera. Unlike Google Glass, the Moverio is aimed more to improve professional productivity than for consumer use.Price: $699 | Release: May 2014

We all knew there was a tablet-size Galaxy Note on the way at CES 2014, but the 12.2-inch display is somewhat of a surprise. As you’d expect, the Note Pro is phenomenally powerful thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800MHz processor, and deals with multitasking and buffering with ease, packing the power for anything from graphically-intensive games to photo and video editing.
LG’s massive 77-inch flexible OLED display is the talk of Las Vegas. Do we really need a 77-inch TV? Maybe. Do we need flexible OLED displays? Debatable. But this is seriously impressive, despite it’s practicality. Rather than being set to a curve, you can actually control just how curved your TV is by remote – the idea being that the curve creates different viewing angles, and a better experience. Literally has to be seen to be believed.Price: TBC | Release: TBC

The LG Lifeband isn’t the best looking fitness tracker we’ve seen, but the fact that it can be used with LG’s heart rate monitoring earphones certainly puts it at an advantage, and we like that you can view existing apps through LG’s fitness app.The built-in 3-axis accelerometer and altimeter enables the gadget to monitor your daily activity including the number of steps you’ve taken, distance, speed, calories scoffed as well as projected pace.Price: TBC | Release: Q1 2014

Makerbot تصنع عدداً من طابعات المجسمات (3D Printers)، لكن هذه قد تكون أول طابعة 3D يمكن لشريحة واسعة من المتحمسين تحمّل كلفتها واستخدامها في المنزل. نظام WiFi يسمح بصنع الأشياء عبر ارسال ملفات 3D من الجوال أو التابلت إلى الطابعة، والتحكم بها عن بعد أو متابعة تقدم الطباعة بواسطة كاميرا مدمجة.نحن كنا بإنتظار ثورة الطباعة الثلاثية الأبعاد منذ فترة، و Replicator Mini قد تكون الفتيل الذي يشعلها.

Playstation Now is the end product of Sony’s buyout of Gaikai in 2012. Initially a US-only service, PS Now will give PS4 gamers the ability to play older PS3 titles by streaming them over the internet whilst also opening up the world of streaming games online to Sony’s BRAVIA TVs. Stay tuned for a UAE / Middle East release date (if ever)…

Described by the maker as “the world’s first non-compromised compact smartphone”, Sony has answered the prayers of 5-inch handset haters. Our first impressions of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact were good –  it’s manageable form factor is easy to handle, and the top-tier specs, lower price and fancy new colours could well make the Z1 Compact a big success.Price: TBC | Release: February 2014
