ANDREA TORREI (b.1967) is an Italian photographer based in Rome, Italy and working worldwide.
Graduated in Political Science in Florence, she studied photography at CSF Adams and Officine Fotografiche in Rome and attended several seminars and workshops with different photographers but the most significant and important with Peter Turnely, Maciej Dakowicz, Vineet Vohra and Magnum photographer Nikos Economopoulos, exploring different genres, approaches and visions.
Street and documentary photography are her main interests working mainly on personal projects with special attention to gender and social issues.
Driven by her passion for history, law, and politics, Andrea Torrei has worked for associations and NGOs to help women and children for several years. She gave herself up to photography and discovered the visible and mysterious realities hidden within. “Realities Hidden Within” represents the ability to see beyond what is sanctioned as habitual. Her photographs have the ability to bring us straightforward impressions of colors, geometric proportions, and balances. They become metaphors for a profound sense of the universal human condition and challenge the viewer’s sentimental education.
