تأسست شركة عبداللطيف جميل عام 1945، واستطاعت إثبات جدارتها على مدى 10 سنوات، حصلت فيها على وكالة تويوتا، لكن انطلاقتها الحقيقة كانت في العام 1979 عندما تسلمها المهندس محمد عبداللطيف جميل ابن المؤسس الأول للشركة عبداللطيف جميل، والذي نهض بها، لتصبح من أقوى الشركات لاستيراد وبيع السيارات الأصلية على مستوى الشرق الأوسط والعالم، وازداد عدد فروعها في أوروبا والصين وآسيا الوسطى، كما اتخذت من موناكو مقراً لها من أجل علاقاتها الخارجية.
